Catholics in Action

Catholics in Action is a Youth Group that runs out of the Parish.

World Youth Day

World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide encounter with the Pope which is typically celebrated every three years in a different country. The most recent WYD was celebrated in Panama City, Panamá from January 22-27, 2019 and the next World Youth Day will be held in Lisbon, Portugal 2023.

WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter with their contemporaries centered on Jesus Christ. This event is an opportunity to experience in first person the universality of the Church; to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who want to commit themselves to Christ and others. World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, by means of prayer and the sacraments, together with thousands of other young people who share your interests and ambitions.

ACYF

The Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) is a national gathering of Catholic young people established by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC). It exists to provide young people with opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to be disciples in the world today and encounter and celebrate the vitality of the Church in Australia

Purpose

The Australian Catholic Youth Festival exists to:

  • Provide a high quality formative and experiential opportunity for young Catholics to encounter Jesus Christ, in the context of the Catholic Church in Australia;

  • Listen to and discuss the issues and challenges in the lives of young Catholics in Australia;

  • Evangelise young people and empower them to be evangelists;

  • Provide young people with local examples and connections of vocations, social action, liturgy and prayer, catholic music and catechesis.

"My dear young people, the church needs you, your enthusiasm, your creativity and the joy that is so characteristic of you!"
